Alyce Buntin Hanlon
SAVANNAH – Alyce Elizabeth Buntin Hanlon, 95, died Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Memorial University Medical Center.
A native of Springfield, MA, Mrs. Hanlon spent her youth in New Jersey. After her marriage to Daniel Edward Hanlon, Jr. in 1936, she and her husband lived on Long Island, NY and in the southwestern United States before retiring to Tom's River, NJ. In 2003 the Hanlons moved to Savannah.
A renowned artist, Mrs. Hanlon devoted her time to the Arts, particularly painting. She was the recipient of numerous awards and her paintings are displayed in a number of prominent places in the south-west.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Brown Buntin, by her mother, Eva Luella Rose Buntin and by her husband and best friend of seventy-two years, Daniel Edward Hanlon, Jr.
Surviving are her son, Daniel E. Hanlon, III, and his wife, Donna, of Savannah; her daughter, Dr. Barbara Jean Bohannon, and her husband, John, of Wantagh, NY; a sister, Jean Huber, of Daphne, AL; three grandsons, Daniel Edward Hanlon, IV, Adam B. Bohannon, and James M. Hanlon; and five great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Nathan, Victoria, Daniel V, and Megan Hanlon.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD where she will entombed with her husband.
The family suggests that remembrances be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15515, Savannah, GA 31416.
